When my power cord died unexpectedly, I figured that buying a HP replacement was the way to go. I found out on the HP site what the correct replacement is and bought it. With my laptop, I needed the dongle, which is just an adapter which adds an extra component to the plug that is on the end of the cord (kind of like stereo headphone jack–making the small plug fit into a large port).
I was happy that I got the power cord in just a couple of days. I immediately plugged it in and it worked! But I soon discovered that not only was the new cord more that a foot and a half shorter than the old cord, but the extra weight and design of the dongle made the dongle unplug itself from my computer.
